New year, new focus!
2017
Welcome all to the New Year, 2017! I know I am late in celebrating the new year. We are already in it for 3 months. Hopefully everyone who wanted more adventures this year will get them soon if not already, those who wanted some goals for themselves have been completed or in the process of completing and if not fit for you, then I hope you are happy and content in your new year! Back to the drawing board!
50x50x50 project
So I stumbled upon a nifty project, called you guess it, the "50x50x50 project". This does involve my camera and my new lens, my 50mm 1.8G. Basically what you would have to do is take 50 photos in 50 days only using your 50mm lens. I kind of broke some rules on this project, but still am doing it when I got the time to do so. There's one rule broken, since it did state daily and I'm not doing it daily. I do have a syllabus to follow, so that way I don't loose track or forget what I should be focusing on only. I gave myself this syllabus because I wanted to have an object or theme to focus on and not all over the map on what I should be focusing on.
I did join 2 groups on Facebook that deal with Photography, Photoshop and Lightroom. These groups are helping me see other peoples work and also giving out tutorials on any type of genre and subject for both Photoshop/Lightroom and Photography in general. I found my "syllabus", above, in one of the groups and I liked it a lot. It is not the usual type of challenges you find out there, when you google "Photography Challenges". This one is very different and I liked the subjects and themes it tells you to take a shot of. I already done at least 6 of them (#5, 26, 27, 39, 44, & 48) and I'm planning on focusing on 6 more each week or so, that way I won't get bored nor tired of the same subject. I also did want to do that challenge and follow the rules on it, but I don't think I'll have too much time to do it due to wanting to do other adventures with Photography. Along with that, I would like to build my portfolio with different genres of Photography. I have a list of some that are mixed with professions, but I would like to have samples in my portfolio for that subject or theme. Along the way, I can find my niche in this world and know exactly what I like to focus on besides Landscape Photography. If you would like to follow my little adventure with this project, you can check out what I produced so far in my Facebook page and check back often for more to be added!
Genres
There are many genres or professions someone can only focus on in Photography. I have yet to find my minor or secondary of what I would like to focus on. For now it is Landscape, with a minor on Candid/Portrait photography. For now, I'll just add some of the genres I want to touch, add to my portfolio and see from there.
Taking care of business!
So far, I did not want to make my hobby of photography into a business, but it seems its going in that route. I already have ordered business cards, well an update on them, and have ordered a new battery for my main laptop. Maybe within in the coming months, I might have more sessions and events to attend, and depending on that might invest in a new lens and then practice on. I didn't want to go into the business with my photography yet, due to I know I am not ready and I learn many new things every day honestly. Everyone learns something new everyday, but for a business to grow and succeed, you need to at least know more than the basics in what you are doing. I'm not there yet and admit to it. I don't mind having sessions, so I will never deny one unless it requires me to travel a lot and we don't come ton common ground or understanding on price. Consultations are great for this and hopefully I get more down the road.
I also updated my website. I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but I did switch hosts. My new site is here, so check it out! Once more sessions come into play, I will add a section on plans/packages and what they include, but for now I will keep it as a hobby. I also update my twitter account as well with what I am up to and attending, anything I can update it with. As always, just check back to my Facebook page and along with my website for updates and new photos! Thanks for your support!
